Ms Julia L Page, MD & chief executive, Veski 

As veski’s MD & chief executive, Julia leads a team responsible for the continued development & delivery of veski’s programs which include a prestigious fellowships program, an inspiring women program & a range of complementary skills, training & education activities. She demonstrates her unique ability to engage people at all levels by building partnerships across governments, academia, industry and the philanthropic sector to extend the reach of veski’s programs & events.

Julia is passionate about delivering diverse and inclusive programs - having just delivered the 3rd iteration of the veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside program, developed to empower women at differing career stages with the skills, networks and mindset to develop and achieve their career goals within STEM industries.

Julia contributes to the councils and committees of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, St Vincent’s Hospital Foundation; Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre and Inspiring Australia – Vic.  Julia is a Member of the AICD and a postgraduate of Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government.

veski has been enabling global linkages since 2004; recognising the importance of fostering collaborations (especially for women) across our knowledge institutes and the business and innovation communities.

Speakers:

Prof. Bracha Shapira:

Bracha Shapira is a professor at the Software and Information Systems Engineering Department at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU). She is currently the vice dean for research at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at BGU. She leads numerous research projects related to, user profiling, privacy, and application of machine learning methods to cyber security at the Cyber center at BGU (CBG). She is also a member of the Telekom Innovation Laboratory at BGU and the CBG (Cyber at BGU center), where she serves as a leading PI in various projects.

She has published more than 200 papers in major scientific conferences and journals and has several registered patents.

Her lab has been involved in many research projects that attracted a significant amount of funding from industry and government agencies

She serves as a consultant to industry in the application of  machine learning methods to various domains.

Prof. Alexs Subic

Professor Aleksandar Subic is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (STEM) and Vice President (Digital Innovation) at RMIT University, responsible for leading the STEM College and Digital Innovation in Australia and globally across aligned academic areas with around 30,000 students, 1100 staff and 1400 researchers. Prior to this appointment he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise) at Swinburne University of Technology, responsible for research and development, graduate studies, engagement and partnerships, advancement, innovation and commercialisation. He was the Dean of Engineering and Head of School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at RMIT University prior to 2015. He is a Fellow of IEAust, Fellow of SAE and Fellow of IEF.

Dr. Neta Kela

Dr. Neta Kela has more 15 years of experience in global business development and innovation and entrepreneurship education in advanced healthcare technologies. Dr. Kela has extensive experience in developing innovation and disruptive technologies in life science industry with proven clinical background in immunology, immunotherapy and drug development from the Stanford University (CA, USA) Dr. Kela holds a PhD in immunology from the Weizmann Institute of Science and won The McCormick Award from the Stanford University and serves as the CEO of the Innovation accelerator and the head of Innovation and entrepreneurship program and senior faculty in SCE (engineering College) . Dr. Kela is the author and inventor of academic papers and serves as scientific adviser in the ScienceAbroad and ISPIM science and innovation organizations. Dr. Kela invited as an innovation expert in the media (YNET, GLOBES, MAARIV, CHANNEL 10 and more) organizations (National Cyber Institute, Science Abroad, Blender) and academic institute (Tel-Aviv Academic institute, McGill University).
